Hailsham Art Trail 2023

art and discovery trail

Welcome to the Hailsham Art Trail 2023

We are delighted once again to have venues showing original art and craft not just in Hailsham, but also in the surrounding areas. There really will be something for everyone.

Our thanks go to our sponsors, Lightning Fibre for making this event possible.

See below for details of all of the Art Trail venues. Do also check our online Art & Discovery Trail Map above as you’ll also find places of interest to discover in the area.

New members of Hailsham Artists Network (HAN) are always welcome – find out more on our Join Us page.

We are pleased to be associated with Hailsham Festival of Arts and Culture. Have a look at their website for the Online Virtual Galleries here: https://hailshamfestival.co.uk/art/

FAQs

  • Do I have to open for every day of the festival?
No, open on the days and times that suit you, anytime between 9th and 23rd September.

  • Can I exhibit with friends? Do we each have to pay the Art Trail fee?
As many people as you like can exhibit together in one venue – you can pay for just one listing to cover the group exhibition.

  • Why is the fee so low?
This year the Art Trail is supported by sponsorship from Lightning Fibre

  • I don’t have a venue – can you find me one?
We don’t have a list of available venues but you can post on the Art Trail facebook page (facebook.com/HailshamArtTrail ) to see if anyone with a venue would like to share. Or you can approach a business to see if they would like to exhibit your work.

  • I have a business and would like to have an artist or maker exhibit their work here. Do you have a list of artists and makers?
You will find most of the members of HAN on our website so you can get in touch with them directly or post on the Art Trail facebook page.

  • Who pays the Art Trail fee – the artist/maker or the venue?
The fee covers the listing in the printed programme so it is up to the artist/maker and venue to decide who pays the fee but remember that the fee is discounted from £20 to £10 for a HAN member.

  • Do I have to join HAN to take part?
No, participation is open to non-members and members alike.

  • How is the Art Trail promoted?
HAN print sufficient programmes for all venues/participants to distribute plus a stock for other High Street and festival venues.
Press releases go out to local papers and radio.
Hailsham FM invite participants to go on air to talk about their venue.
The Art Trail is listed in the Hailsham Festival promotional material.
All HAN members can add their event listing to the HAN website calendar of events.
HAN also promote the trail on Instagram and facebook.
All venues are marked on the Art Trail online map.

  • Why is it called an Art and DISCOVERY Trail?
We encourage everyone participating to list places of interest that are local to their venue to so visitors can make the most of their visit to the trail – this can include local landmarks, restaurants, pubs, attractions as well as art and craft based businesses. These are added to the online Art Trail map.

  • How do I apply to take part?
The Submissions form is at the top of the page – this must be completed online. Please see the Art Trail handbook below for useful information.
